About

Hey guys! Welcome! I’m Tiffany and I am so happy you have stumbled across my blog.

WHO I AM

I am a self proclaimed nerd with a degree in Accounting and over 15 years experience in the world of number crunching. I am a believer in following Dave Ramsey’s plan to living a debt free life. I am a lover of CrossFit, lifting weights, margaritas and Mexican food. I am the daughter of two selfless parents and the oldest of three sisters. I am an aunt to many nieces and nephews and a friend in a circle of amazing women around me. I have two dogs-a 14 year old pug named Emma and an 9 year old Weimaraner named Frank. I am the wife to an incredible husband and recently quit my job as an accountant to be a SAHW (stay at home wife). I am a follower of Jesus. Although I am terribly flawed, I strive to live out the words of Proverbs 31:25-26.

HOW I GOT HERE

All of my life I was an athlete. I played nearly every sport our school offered and excelled. When I got to college I left my world of sports and embraced my inner nerd as I pursued my degree and worked at a CPA office part time. I loved everything about numbers and accounting. I had found my place in life. Fast forward a few years and I found myself living in the DFW area trying to “keep up with the Jones'” and working in a job that made me miserable. A former coworker reached out to me regarding a job opening and I jumped at the opportunity. It was in a small town, much like the town I grew up in. I was nervous but I knew this was the move I needed in order to get my finances under control. I made the move in December 2006.

In September 2007 I began dating a local boy. My own plans were to stay in that town and that job for 2-3 years before moving on to bigger and better things, but he was cute and charming and funny and made my time in that sleepy town so much better. I had no plans of that relationship becoming anything serious. Its funny how God works, isn’t it? We can make plans for ourselves all we want, but He has plans of His own. In November 2011 I married that local boy and we still live in that small town. It is now Home for me. During our time of dating he introduced me to the teachings of Dave Ramsey and I did get my finances under control, thanks to him.

In 2014, as we began talking about growing our family, I felt a pull to quit my job. I had an overwhelming feeling that I just wasn’t doing what I was supposed to be doing. I wanted to help people. I wanted to influence people and make their lives better in some way. After some time, I brought this up to my husband and he was pretty shocked. He knew me as an independent woman who had been pretty vocal about not wanting to stay home. The thought of being a stay at home wife (SAHW) never even entered my mind-especially at a time when I have no children. I’ve always worked and wanted to “move up the ladder”.  After some time talking about this and what it would look like, we decided one thing needed to happen first. Pay off the house. We got the house paid off in August 2016 and became 100% DEBT FREE!

HERE WE ARE

In 2017 it was time to make another move. I moved home. I am no longer in the world of crunching numbers or sitting behind a desk from 8-5. I am home. I am writing. I am pursuing a life of health and wellness, lifting weights, cooking, taking care of our home, taking walks in the sunshine, reading and embracing what comes my way. This was never the path I wanted. I wouldn’t have chosen this. This is all God and I am so grateful I listened.

I am figuring out what it means to stay home. What it means to follow a calling that God puts on your heart. How to be a better wife. What to do with my time. How can I encourage other women in their pursuit of health and fitness? What projects need to be done around the house? What books have I been wanting to read but just haven’t found the time? Will I finally learn to enjoy cooking and feel comfortable in the kitchen? Will I be able to “be still, and know…” (Psalm 46:10)?

I would love for you to take this journey with me as I learn to embrace the unknown. Follow along as I post my thoughts on this new chapter in our life. I plan to share some new recipes with you as I try them, keep you updated on what I am doing in the weight room, give some reviews of the books I am reading, updates on the projects I have going on around the house and our journey to grow our family. I’ll be sharing what I learn as a new blogger and since I can’t completely shed my nerdiness, I’ll be sharing lessons I’ve learned on budgeting and becoming debt free. Take a peek into the life of a new Stay At Home Wife.  Thanks for reading!
